Huddersfield native PENNY has a new EP that I learnt about when I heard her brilliant cover of Jeff Buckley’s “Lover, You Should’ve Come Over”. The EP is called Prom? and it was inspired by a teenage fantasy of hers.
“I chose the prom theme because I kinda grew up romanticising the idea of a big American teenage prom, but more like the one in Carrie (even though it’s tragic!),” the UK singer-songwriter reveals.
“I feel like all the teenage angst and wonder and feeling silly and uncool but also the self-assuredness comes out at prom, and that’s what I was trying to get across through this EP, but like in an adult way.”
Besides the impressive cover, the EP is packed with amazing songs like “Shadow Dancing”, “Dirty” and “So Good Inside”.
