You can permanently delete your AfroPublish account and personal data at any time. This page explains how to request deletion, what gets removed, and the limited records we are legally required to keep. AfroPublish is operated by Starlight Group SA (Pty) Ltd.

1. Delete from the mobile app

The fastest way, and it works entirely inside the app:

• Open the AfroPublish app and make sure you are signed in.
• Go to the Profile tab.
• Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
• Confirm twice. Your account and data are then permanently deleted.

2. Delete from the website

• Sign in at afropublish.com/auth/sign-in.
• Go to Settings → Account.
• Under Delete account, type the confirmation phrase and choose Schedule deletion.
• Deletion is scheduled for 30 days later. You can sign back in and cancel any time before that date; after it, deletion is permanent.

3. Request deletion by email

If you can no longer access your account, email support@starlightgroupsa.co.za from the address on your account with the subject “Account deletion request”. We may ask you to verify your identity before we act on the request, and we will confirm once it is complete.

4. What gets deleted

When your deletion completes, we permanently remove:

• Your account and sign-in credentials;
• Your profile — name, stage name, photo, bio and settings;
• Music, videos and artwork you uploaded, and their files in storage;
• Playlists, saved songs, likes and follows;
• Your listening history and in-app activity tied to your account;
• Other personal information we hold about you that we are not legally required to keep.

5. What we have to keep

A small amount of data survives deletion, either because the law requires it or because it belongs to other people:

• Financial records — royalty, payout, licence-purchase and tax records are retained for the period required by South African tax and company law (typically 5 years), then deleted or anonymised.
• Licences other people bought — if someone purchased a licence to your music, their licence and download stay valid.
• Aggregated, anonymised analytics — statistics that can no longer be linked back to you.
• Backups — deleted data is purged from backups as they roll off our normal retention schedule.

6. Timeline

• Mobile app: deletion is immediate and permanent once you confirm.
• Website: deletion is scheduled 30 days out and can be cancelled by signing back in before that date; after 30 days it is permanent.
• By email: we action verified requests promptly and confirm by reply.
