DJ Sliqe Reveals How LaCabra’s Faith In Dolphin DX Sparked The Making Of “Lapisa.” DJ Sliqe has shared the story behind the creation of “Lapisa,” revealing that LaCabra’s belief in an unknown artist played a pivotal role in shaping the record.
Speaking in an interview, Sliqe recalled inviting Lowfeye and LaCabra to the studio at the beginning of the year to complete another song titled “Banger” with YC. When the duo arrived, they unexpectedly brought along an artist named Dolphin, whom Sliqe and his team had never met.
After wrapping up “Banger,” Lowfeye and LaCabra asked if there were more beats to work on. Sliqe obliged, and the session quickly turned into a marathon, with the pair recording several more songs.
It was during one of those moments that LaCabra made a request that would prove significant.
“Yo, let my boy hop on the mic.”
Sliqe admitted he didn’t know Dolphin at the time, but he chose to trust LaCabra’s instincts rather than question the newcomer.
He explained that everyone in the studio shared the same mindset of creating the best music possible. Because he already trusted LaCabra as an artist, he felt there was no reason to doubt someone LaCabra personally vouched for.
Sliqe added that many studios are quick to dismiss unfamiliar talent, but he intentionally avoided that mentality, believing that doing so could mean missing out on something special.
That decision paid off, as Dolphin’s contribution became part of “Lapisa,” giving fans a glimpse into how trust, collaboration and spontaneity came together to create one of the standout records from the session.
